A great deal of interest
was generated by our tank tactics tutorial for '42 (see Panzaman's
Tank Tutorial at http://faq.bf42.com/tankvstank.html),
written by Panzaman and Vimeous, with testing by Seven (a.k.a.
Carin). Having generated a number of our own mini-mods for
sometime for playing on our LAN we have decided to develop
them further and make them available to other Battlefield
1942 players. They include fixes to some of the more unrealistic
aspects in the original game, but are primarily intended to
improve teamwork and cooperation between player classes. There
will be versions available both for original Battlefield 1942
and Road To Rome.
BattleGroup42 set out to
develop 3 mods for Battlefield 1942. Under the banner of TeamworkMod
the aim of these mods is to both improve team cooperation
and to moderate some of the more arcadey elements of the game.
There will be a greater emphasis on historical accuracy but
only where it improves gameplay. Early mod versions will concentrate
on changing vehicles, but further plans have been hatched
that will cover other elements.
The original strategy has
now been refined to just one mod to cover all and more of
the aspects originally intended for inclusion. We've also
expanded the mod team to improve our knowledge of both modding
and the events BattleGroup42 aims to cover.
First of all we were joined by the team developing the Red
Twilight mod. They brought greater depth in vehicle modeling,
mapping and skinning. Following the Red Twilight team Psychoslaphead,
developer of the Realplanes mod allowed us to use his coding
skill to refine aircraft performance and dramatically improve
the bots flying abilities.
The most recent staff to join hail from the
Weapons of War mod. Their work focused upon small-arms and
mapping adds yet another key piece to the BattleGroup42 jigsaw.
With the continued expansion
of the mod team we decided to implement the idea of Associate
Members. These fine individuals produce work that has, or
will be included in the main mod. Essentially they enhance
the skill set of mod team. Together we are developing BattleGroup42
from a mod of great potential into something far greater than
we initially envisaged.

area has the latest mod alphas. Watch our news for the latest
developments and have a browse of the BattleGroup42
overview where each mod is broken down in more detail.
